Table tennis also helps in burning calorie. It is not heavy game. It requires lots of body movement. Stretching and arching, while smashing the ball. It gives a good exercise to the body to burn calories. Table tennis is also popular game in today’s world. It is played either between two opposing players or between the two pairs. Earlier it is known as ping-pong. Later, it is given the name table tennis. It is an indoor game.

How to play this game? First, toss is done to select side or serve. During game play, server should toss the ball upward approximately 6 inches without spinning the ball. He or she then must hit the ball such that it bounces once in his/ her half of table and then bounces at least one time on the opponent’s half. If ball hits the net and do not cross the net, then point is given to receiver. However, if ball hits the net but manages to reach next half, then ball must be served again without any penalty, it is called let. Player can commit any number of lets without penalty. When ball is served then receiver should return it in one stroke in opponents half without bouncing ball in his half. And soon till anyone make mistake.

During play player can spin the ball, smash the ball, etc. Player switches side after every 5 points. Game is played upto 11 points and players wins the game with 2 point leads in reaching 11. Serve is switched in every two points.

How table tennis helps to burn calorie:

Lots of physical movement likes forward and backward is done while playing this game. It helps body exercise to burn calories, also to loose weight. These movement burns calorie by 30 percent. Swinging of hand while smashing helps in muscle stretching and increase in muscle, and an increase in muscle by a pound burns 50% calorie.

Hence, this game easy to play and learn. It gives good exercise in lesser time, which burns calorie upto much extends. For players, it improves their game at the same time.
