What is erectile dysfunction?

Erectile dysfunction is a disease due to improper functioning of penis during sexual intercourse. It is characterized by the inability to achieve penile erection until ejaculation. This is a type of disease caused mostly due to hormonal imbalance .but stil1930 there is no much discussion about this disease due to its personal nature and people find it quite difficult to talk openly about it. But slowly and gradually people started to find a remedy to help out of it and in this way this disease has come into light. They started consulting doctors and expert to get an alternative for this type dysfunction. According to national ambulatory medical care survey in United States, 22 out of 1000 men went to doctor to receive advice for erectile dysfunction in 1999.

Smoking can lead to erectile dysfunction

It is surveyed and studied and finally it is found that smoking can be a major cause for erectile dysfunction. Erection of penis during sexual intercourse is due to inflow of blood into veins of penis and the veins get compressed to prevent the outflow. But this mechanism is destroyed due to smoking as the nicotine concentration inside the brain increases which result in rapid and frequent contraction of the penile tissue .this restricts the inflow of blood in the penis and thus the person suffer from erectile dysfunction. Some other causes can also be mentioned which is also responsible for erectile dysfunction. This include diabetes and the increased level of cholesterol and arteriosclerosis which is characterized by deposition of fats in the arteries

Prevention and Treatment of erectile dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction caused by smoking is known as smoking erectile dysfunction. This can be regarded as a lifestyle disease as it is very much related with how we live our life and this can be prevented by changing our lifestyle. By just quitting smoking we can bring drastic change in our life .erectile dysfunction is a serious disease which can damage the relationship with the spouse .so its better to give a thought to our lifestyle and try to make some changes Nowadays with the advancement of medical field various types of treatment are available according to the type of disease .in some cases supplements of testosterone can be beneficial while in other case various drugs like sildenafil,,vardenafil, tadalafil are prescribed and are taken orally and quite satisfactory results are found with these drugs.
