Paediatrics is a well know branch of medial field that involves treatments of children and infants, accordingly the pediatricians are very important professionals in this world. The paediatric radiography, which is obtaining the images of the internal state of the body, is gaining more and more importance day by day. The paediatric radiography is useful to the paediatrician, for diagnosing the problems in the children.
The requirements for the conventional radiography and the paediatric radiography are different form each other. This is because apart from the differences in the body sizes, there are several other differences as, the requirements for handling the child patients, the diseases that occur to them, etc.
While taking the radiographic images of the children, it is necessary that they should be made comfortable. Therefore, in the paediatric radiography, the radiographers should have the interpersonal skills for doing so. The second factor that is concerned with the paediatric radiography is that the body of the newborn babies, or expected baby i.e. the fetus, is very sensitive to radiations and therefore special care is needed for taking their images.
In addition to this, during diagnosis of the children, the paediatric radiography also deals with the problems that do not come about in the adult radiography. Therefore, the Paediatric radiographers should have the knowledge about these problems occurring especially in the children.
The applications, for which the paediatric radiography is used in the child diagnosis, include the diagnosis of the problems of the teeth, the tests for the abnormalities during the birth, etc. For this purpose, the different types of scans are also performed on the children. These include the CT scan, MRI scan, etc.
In addition to this, one more field in which it is applied is, for the tracking the growth and development of the children. As their bones are in growing state, it is advisable to, regularly check whether there is any major problem, associated with their growth and development. The paediatric radiography can also predict about the possible growth that the child would achieve in the future.
The paediatric radiography is very useful as, it is a painless technology. Therefore, it can be preferred over the other tests, which could be painful especially for the children. The second important advantage is that, it is a faster technique. Moreover, this is easily available in towns and cities across the world for the detection of complex problems. Lastly, it is a cheap and therefore easily affordable technology.
