Herpes virus play important role in causing viral disease in human just after cold viruses and influenza. The virus can remain silent for years or cause overt disease, the silent virus may get reactivated and cause the disease but medical practitioners are still not able to reach a conclusion, how it gets reactivated. The herpes basically means to creep or spread as the lesions, blister do in the case of infection. The name of the virus is HSV-1 and HSV-2.HSV stands for Herpes simplex virus. There’s one strange fact about the virus that once it enter the human body it remains in the body throughout the life. Twenty five viruses have been identified in the family of herpes virus.
The initial stage may not be visible due to its asymptomatic nature. The structure of herpes virus is quiet f=different from normal virus. They are known as enveloped viruses. It also says that it can be only transmitted from direct contact with the infected person and not from the toilet seats. The virus is believed to be sensitive to acids. Organic solvents, detergents as it is a virus with a envelope which is made of lipid.
If the structure of the herpes virus is studies than following terminology come across:
Envelope shape
Made of lipid
Tegument
Capsid
Geome
The space between the capsid and the envelope is called tegument. This is basically involved in the process of replication and also contains protein and enzymes which are virally coded.
The shape of the virus is doughnut. Double stranded DNA structure of the virus. The virus initially binds itself to the cell surface. The virus gets fused with the cell membrane at a suitable Ph and the fusion of virus occurs with the cell if the immunity of the cell is weak. If one cell gets affected then the germs or virus gets transmitted to the other cells of the body. if the cells have strong immunity then the virus attack can be prevented. The entry of nucleocapsid into cytoplasm of the cell leads to the entry of DNA genome into the nucleus of the cell where the final reaction or complete entry of virus happens. The last step is called transcription which is a very complex process. Three types of proteins are necessary for the production of a virus which will be ready for the attack:
Alpha proteins
Beta proteins
Gamma proteins
The herpes DNA is transcribed to RNA by a cellular enzyme after which DNA synthesis occurs and the virus is fully prepared to attack the body.
