The body heat thus generated is very much instrumental in burning those extra calories which has been cause of serious health concern. Excess of calories in the body can lead to various health hazards, which can also be fatal. Heart attack, high blood pressure, diabetes are the few ailments, which can be a result of excessive calories in the body. This state of body is attained greatly due to an inactive lifestyle and unhealthy eating habits. Doing abdominal crunches can be a very effective form of exercise to get rid of the extra amount of calories.

Method of doing abdominal crunches

The first step towards doing abdominal crunches is keep the head horizontal to the ground and centered over the shoulder. Then the chest should be brought up. As the chest is brought up the shoulders should relax. Then the abs should be tightened enough to bring the belly button to the spine. The knees should be aligned with the second and the third toes. It should be made sure that knees are not locked and there should always be some bent in the knees so as to relax them. To perform the crunches a person should lay with feet comfortably apart.

Giving concentrated pressure on the particular area like abdomen also helps to keep it in shape, as it is the part, which generally gets disfigured due to high level of calories.
